Welcome (U9) Parents!

Welcome and/or welcome back to Cranbrook Minor Hockey for the 2025-2026 Season!

**U9 Evaluations and team selection will be in late September/Early October

*For children born in 2017 and 2018 (Must be turning 7 or 8 on or before Dec 31st 2025)

****If your child is new or inexperienced in hockey and you feel they are not ready to join their age group, please ask our registrar about options to play down an age group

*Full hockey gear is required

-Helmet (labelled with last name on it; something as simple as a piece of tape and a sharpie works!!)

-Mouth Guard

-Neck Guard

-Shoulder Pads

-Elbow Pads

-Hockey Gloves

-Athletic Cup

-Hockey Pants

-Shin Pads

-Skates

-Stick

-Hockey Bag

-**Mouth guard is NOT needed at this age group

-Water bottle -with extended spout is very helpful so they can hydrate through their helmet as they cannot be removed on the ice.

It is a good idea to label their gear

If you are unsure about proper fitting of equipment, Click Here to watch the video tutorial

*Hockey jerseys will be provided at the beginning of the season and NEED TO BE RETURNED TO YOUR MANAGER at the end of the season.

Any name banner added needs to be removed- do not silk screen names on to jerseys.
If the jersey is lost or damaged you may be required to pay for the replacement.

Socks may be provided at no cost depending on the sponsor but if not, must be purchased through the team manager at an additional cost.

Season Stucture With Some Updates for the 2025-2026 Season

*The season typically starts late Sept/Early October and ends mid March

*Typically 2 ice times per week. Days and times rotate typically every 6 weeks and will be communicated to you through your team manager via TeamSnap

* Tournaments: Each team may attend up to three out-of-town tournaments, and we will host a home tournament on March 6-8, 2026

*Team Fees: $400 per player. Any excess funds will be refunded at the end of the season after the home tournament and team wind-ups.

Team Structure

This season, teams will be grouped by similar skill levels to give all players better opportunities to build confidence and develop both with and without the puck.

We are aiming for:

  • Four Tier 4 teams (10-12 players each)

  • Two Tier 2 teams (10-12 players each)

All teams will practice and attend tournaments within their tiers.

Evaluation Dates

  • U9 Evaluations begin: September 27th, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Memorial Arena

  • Specific ice times and group assignments will be emailed to you closer to the date.

  • The following two weeks will include additional ice times for roster finalization.

  • Once teams are formed, your assigned Team Manager and Head Coach will send a “Welcome to the Team” message and take over communication.

If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Looking forward to a great season!
