Novice Rec U9 (House)
Welcome Novice (U9) Parents!
Welcome and/or welcome back to Cranbrook Minor Hockey for the 2021-2022 Season!
*For children born in 2013 and 2014 (Must be turning 7 or 8 on or before Dec 31st 2021)
*Full hockey gear is required
-Helmet (labelled with last name on it; something as simple as a piece of tape and a sharpie works!!)
-Water bottle -with extended spout is very helpful so they can hydrate through their helmet as they cannot be removed on the ice.
It is a good idea to label their gear
*Hockey jerseys will be provided at the beginning of the season and NEED TO BE RETURNED TO YOUR MANAGER at the end of the season.
Any name banner added needs to be removed. If the jersey is lost or damaged you may be required to pay for the replacement.
Socks may be provided at no cost depending on the sponsor but if not, must be purchased through the team manager at an additional cost.
*The season typically starts at the beginning of October and ends beginning to mid March
*After December 1st exhibition games can be booked against other CMHA novice teams and out of town teams. Games will be booked by coaches/managers and information forwarded to the parents as available. Any additional cost for ice rental will be the responsibility of the hosting team
*Parents are expected to volunteer for clock/score keeping when needed
*Teams can participate in TWO out of town tournaments per season as well as host one home tournament.
*Away tournaments will be decided by coaches/managers and information forwarded to the parents as available. The cost for tournaments varies and is separate from the initial registration fees.
*Cranbrook hosts a home tournament for the novice division. Parents are expected to volunteer for fundraising, concession, raffle table, 50/50 and score keeping.
*Typically 2 ice times per week. Days and times rotate on a monthly basis and will be communicated to you through your team manager
*After December 1st one weekly ice time typically becomes an exhibition game against the other Cranbrook teams.
*If you are interested in volunteering as a coach please see our 'Coaches Corner' section for the requirements
*If you are interested in volunteering as a team manager, please connect with your coach or the Novice Division Head at email@example.com
