Updated Covid Regulations

Covid Protocol Update Oct 13th 2021

To meet the newest Interior Health Guidelines in Cranbrook, Kimberley and Canal Flats rinks, CMHA has adopted the following regulations for practices and games.

While we understand that this decision may not please everyone, we’ve chosen to align ourselves with majority of other community facilities within our region.

Please note that Full Vaccination means that you must have already received your second dose as of today's date, Oct 7th 2021.

Interior Health has deemed the following roles to be essential to the sport are therefore exempt from requiring proof of vaccination:

o Players

o Coaches

o Refs and officials

o Managers

Regulations Surrounding Spectators

  • Practices - Up to 50 Spectators - No proof of vaccination required

o Proof of vaccination NOT required

Must do contact tracing (name and phone number or email) Click HERE for a sample contact tracing sheet.

o Need to keep contact tracing info for 30 days.

o Face masks must be worn at all times by everyone over the age of  whether it’s spectators, players or coaches. Players and coaches must wear them until they enter onto the field of play (ice surface).

o We will require a Covid Ambassador to monitor the door, record contact tracing and ensure that numbers stay below 50.

o Spectators must always remain seated and avoid congregating. Exceptions will be made for accessing the washroom facilities.

  • Games - Greater than 50 Spectators Permitted - Proof of Full Vaccination as Mandated by Interior Health

o Proof of full vaccination required- 'full proof' means you have received both your doses by Oct 7th 2021. For more information from Interior Health, please click the link. Provincial and regional restrictions - COVID-19 | Interior Health

o Ages 12 to 17 - Required to produce proof of full vaccination only

o 18 and up - Required to produce proof of vaccination and photo id.

Please remember that this is not a regulation that CMHA has created but we are required to abide by it. ZERO tolerance for any abuse of the volunteers at the door. If we are informed of any, it will be immediately and strictly handled.

Also, a reminder that masks must be worn in the rinks by anyone over the age of 5, including in the penalty boxes, and score sheet/time clock area. Even if this is not required at other rinks that you travel to, we highly encourage that they still be worn.

Contact tracing NOT required

Face masks must be worn at all times for anyone over the age of 5. Players and coaches must wear them until they enter onto the field of play (ice surface)

o Allowed to have up to 50% of the arena capacity as spectators

o Spectators must always remain seated and avoid congregating. Exceptions will be made for accessing the washroom facilities.

* We will require 2 Covid Ambassadors (one from each team) to monitor the door for the duration of the game. They need to ensure that all who enter have a valid vaccine passport (anyone aged 12 and up) and photo identification (anyone over 18)

There will be absolutely zero tolerance of abuse of any kind towards the door monitors or volunteers. Doing so will result in suspension of the parent and player from future team events.

Thank you for abiding by these new restrictions. We hope that this will lead us to a more normal season of hockey for the kids.
